A great podcast - thank you! It makes so much sense too. Perhaps as we grow up we forget the power that story telling had for us as children. Whatever our creed or culture, we remember the stories and rhymes we were heard and learnt as we grew up and we never forget them. As I prepare for my next 10 minutes at Battle BNI, East Sussex, UK, I will remember this.

"What if"...That's a great way to put together a 10-min presentation. Dr. Misner is so fluent in his ideas, so that when I read the transcripts of the podcasts, I actually feel as if I am learning something new, even if I have heard it before. I have to agree that story-telling does add power to a message, in our case..our 60 sec. and 10 min. presentations.

I would love to hear a Podcast dedicated to storytelling. I love "Before and After" stories. In my business of decorating and home solutions this type of story, along with pictures is very effecting.

Most of my life I have been a story teller. Without clear notice of this talent,I went on to learn other marketing skills and dicovered to that story telling is and will always be the most powerful to ingage a group and get them to remember your topic. For those of you who have had a hard hill to clime in life or a family of interesting memories - use the true stories spotlight examples to your topic.. People can relate to family stories the most.I believe your group will favor a real story over most text book basics.
Who you really are.... is why they want to do business with you.

Thanks Dr. Ivan for using this topic for discussion.

Excellent advice. Concrete examples help others understand the message and have resulted in immediate referrals that I've both given and received. Appealing to others on a visceral level makes the "story" stand out from the others; it commands attention. Thank you! Mona

Wow- another GREAT podcast! I love stories and realize how important they are when speaking. Understanding the "what if" vs. the "how to" concept is very powerful. Stories have been around since before the printed word! Peter Guber, Mark Victor Hansen, Keith Ferrazzi, and Ivan Misner use them- you should to! Shawn McCarthy- BNI ED, Ventura County Ca.
