Great Podcast... Now my story; I joined BNI four months ago and love it. Out of my 40 members there is one that I have requested his services (He never called me), how ever he helps other members. I gave him referals and weeks later asked how were those referals working out? (Told me that he was not interested), he gives and receives referals to/from some of our members. Gave him a phone number for a great contact in his trade. (He never called)... My Question, why be in a network group if you plan to only do business with 20 members out of the 40?

Having been on the other end of these faux pas, I can honestly say that Ivan is spot on. I recently tried to employ one of my BNI partners for an event and could not get my emails or phone call returned to confirm. Had to go with another vendor when the event arrived. They claimed that they were busy and assumed that everything was ok. Left me wondering how they treated their other customers.

Hi Ivan! The story about being invited to a friends house and then being confrunted with a slim shake sales pitch also happened to be. I'm guessing it is the same company and their marketing policy, be it the USA or Malaysia. Being a marketing consultant myself I dislike the misuse of trust and friendship.

In my case my wife and I were invited around to a friend's house for lunch and as soon as we walked through the door we knew were being 'stitched up'. We are still friends with the person but some of the shine has been lost from the relationship.

Thanks for the great podcasts.

I though we were supposed to "exchange" business cards and not "collect" them. We have all made mistakes and should learn from them. Great podcast!
