Wow! Great information! Thanks for sharing it with us. I think I have some negative word of mouth going on right now. I can just feel it. There are too many people not talking to me! So I have set up Google alerts and will join the conversation and see if I can get things going in a positive direction. By the way, I was in a BNI group that had some negative stuff going on, but as soon as BNI found out about it, they did a great job of fixing it. Way to go BNI!!! Dan Rawls is over this area - so pop this compliment up in your Google alerts Dan!!!

I too have been using Google alerts for sometime. Another very useful thing is to get the same sort of alerts about what is being said about you on Twitter. There are probably a number of services offering this, I use what was called Tweetlater, now called www.socialoomph.com on there you can get a daily email containing all tweets mentioning your keywords (i.e. your name, company name, product name etc)I'm not sure if the feature is in the free version as I use the $29 per month professional version.

Great lesson from Dr. Ivan Misner on getting people to start talking about you and your company in a positive way. Blogs are a big help and also alerts, especially when you can quickly respond to people's negative comments. They feel like someone cares and is paying attention to them.

Great info! I like the google alert feature and have been using it for 2 years. The really neat thing is that each alert has settings, and you can even change them or cancel certain "test" alerts all from your cell phone!
